The Story of Taz: How Our Paw-fect Mascot Found His Home

It all started on a Tuesday afternoon, at a time when it felt like God had his own plan in mind. I thought I was supposed to be at a doctor’s appointment in Lansing at 1 PM, but it turned out that appointment was actually scheduled for Wednesday, not Tuesday. In that moment, I felt a gentle nudge that maybe this was God’s way of guiding me to something special.

I’d been looking at this particular puppy online all week, calling and emailing the shelter about him. When I realized my schedule was free on Tuesday, I decided to visit the shelter, feeling it was more than just coincidence.

When I got there and didn’t see him, I asked the staff if he’d been adopted. They explained that he was on his way from a kill shelter in Texas. The plane had been delayed by bad weather, but he’d be there the next day—Wednesday at 1 PM, the exact time of my real appointment.

I told them, “This is my dog. I know he’s meant to be with me.” The staff member, moved by how sure I was, offered to hold Taz for me. Reminding me she was unable to really do this for me. By the grace of God, she let me finalize the adoption over the phone.

The next day, right after my appointment, I made that call. When I walked into the shelter a short while later, I didn’t need to meet him first—I knew in my heart he was mine. The photo that’s now our logo is from the very first moment we met, and ever since, Taz has been bringing endless joy to our home. He’s the heart of our brand and a reminder that sometimes, with a little divine timing, the perfect friend finds you.
